Active Ingredient:

Adaferin® Gel is manufactured by Galderma. This is a topical medication for mild to moderate acne vulgaris on the face, chest, and back. The active ingredient of Adaferin® Gel is Adapalene, a third-generation retinoid and derivative of vitamin A. It acts as a keratolytic, comedolytic, and exfoliating agent.

Acne vulgaris is a long-term inflammatory skin disorder. Its symptoms are pimples, whiteheads, non-inflamed comedones, and possible scarring. Acne occurs due to the hyperproliferation of P. acnes (Propionibacterium acnes) bacteria, that grow in the clogged pores. Pores get clogged when contain too much skin sebum and excess dead epithelial cells. Our immune system responds to the abnormal amount of P. acnes with acne progression.

MOA (mechanism of action):

Adapalene is considered as a first-line therapy for comedonal and inflammatory acne. It acts as comedolytic and anti-inflammatory agent. Getting deeply into the clogged pores, it modulates cells differentiation and keratinization, therefore decreases the amount of dead skin cells residue and inhibits the formation of pore-clogging content. With the lack of comedogenic content in pores, P. acnes no longer have a positive environment to proliferate in.

Adaferin® Gel is for external use only. Do not apply to your eyes, mouth, inside of the nose, private parts, and any other mucosal surface.

Adaferin® Gel is normally applied 1 time daily at bedtime, usually for 3 months. In case your acne has not improved after 2-3 weeks of treatment, discontinue the Adaferin® Gel use and seek medical advice.
