Late and Early Airport Arrivals: In case you arrive at the SLC Airport either very late or very early, you probably should eat something there because the ICED Conference dining facilities will be closed then (nor are nearby alternatives available). Below are the food options at the airport with the most flexible hours. (Vending machines are also accessible at the airport concourses 24 hours a day.)

Note: Reservations are not required when transferring from Salt Lake CityAirport to the conference lodging sites. However, to return to the airport, a reservation must be made by phone. Those attending the Sunday morning excursions (E-6, E-7) to the Tabernacle Choir performance will be provided motor coach airport transfer.

Shuttle Instructions (from airport to conference venues):

Xpress Shuttle check-in desks are inside each terminal.

Delta and SkyWest passengers should first retrieve their luggage in the baggage claim area of Terminal 2 and then check in at the XPRESS Shuttle desk, located by baggage carousel #8. Please look for the sign that says “XPRESS Shuttle.”

All other airline passengers should retrieve their luggage in the baggage claim area of Terminal 1 and then check in at the XPRESS Shuttle desk located by baggage carousel #3. Please look for the sign that says “XPRESS Shuttle.”

These shuttles take passengers all around Salt Lake City. As a result, you may have to wait as others are dropped off before you are delivered to your destination.

Taxi Instructions:

When you arrive at SLC International Airport AND have retrieved your luggage, please go to the Cab Starter on the curb of your terminal. If no Starter is available, please call 801-521-2100. Also, please turn on your cell phone so they can contact you, if needed. After calling, please meet your cab at the terminal cab stand.

Bus/Train

Bus/Train $1.75 USD per person (includes transferring from bus to train and walking 5-20 minutes)—available only from 6:30 am to 10:30 pm. Bus stops are located in the airport parking structure between Terminal One and Terminal Two.

Utah Transit Authority (UTA) provides both city bus and light rail transportation (TRAX) at low cost. Any trips between the conference site (University of Utah/Ft. Douglas) and SLC Airport will take about an hour and will require at least one transfer.

Bus/Train Instructions:

Visit UTA’s Trip Planner to plan a complete trip. For steps 1 & 2, use Option 2 by submitting your starting and ending destinations. Here are the destinations you should use:

(for ICED conference site, University Guest House, Heritage Residence Halls and University Park Marriott Hotel)

Next, set the time of day you will travel, and select the “fewest transfers” option for the sorting order. Once this information is submitted, the Trip Planner will generate a number of possible itineraries from which you may choose.

Bus tickets are purchased on each bus as you enter (cash only). TRAX tickets are purchased from ticket machines at every TRAX stop with cash or credit card.
